Liveable heart of Christchurch
Our vision for the East Frame is to develop a lively, socially diverse, and very liveable new heart for Christchurch’s CBD. The three precincts will encompass a number of diverse neighbourhoods and will be enjoyed by homeowners with broad ranging lifestyles.
At Fletcher Living, we’re passionate about social diversity and believe this should be allowed to organically grow. We firmly believe that quality architectural planning is essential for a community renewal project such as East Frame.
Sustainability is a core value of Fletcher Living’s and is deeply embedded in the East Frame Masterplan. We understand that the decisions we make have a lasting impact on the environment and surrounding communities, and we take that responsibility very seriously.
We’re using respected, independent rating tools, so buyers can be confident that the homes they will live in have achieved high levels of quality, accessibility and sustainability for both design and build. We’re targeting a 3-Star Lifemark rating and a 6 Homestar rating on all our homes. Lifemark certifies how adaptable, safe and usable a home is for people of all ages and abilities. Homestar certifies the health, efficiency and sustainability of New Zealand homes, ensuring they will be warmer, drier and cheaper to run than homes built to Building Code.
Fletcher Living is also working with partner Otakaro Ltd and the NZGBC (New Zealand Green Building Council) to target a Green Star Communities rating for East Frame. This will be the first residential community rating of its kind in New Zealand. The international rating tool focuses on creating world-class sustainable communities, by prioritising goals such as environmental responsibility, economic prosperity, enhanced liveability, design excellence and community wellbeing through leadership and governance.
We’re always open to ideas and feedback. Right now, we are seeking community input and proposals for temporary use across the East Frame. If you want to bring an idea to life on one of the lots or spaces we have available, we’d love to hear your proposal. We've created a short video 'Transforming East Frame' to help give you a better sense of how you can get involved.
Fletcher Living will establish East Frame Central within the MED building on Armagh Street (opposite the Margaret Mahy Family Playground) to provide a central location for information sharing, as well as a place to gather the community’s ideas on temporary use.
We have a number of lots and spaces across the East Frame available for temporary use purposes.
These lots vary in size and the dates they are available for use.
The map below indicates time frames and locations.
We're keen to hear your views and ideas on how we best use these available spaces as we commence building this new residential community over the next 8-10 years.
